An interesting detail about the Palm Islands

An interesting detail about the Palm Islands It took 94 million cubic meters of sand to build Palm Islands in Dubai. The Empire State Building is only 37 million cubic meters.
In fact, the amount of stones and sand used here could form a 2 meter (6.5 ft) wide wall that would circumnavigate the globe three times!
The construction of Palm Jumeirah began in August 2001, and is considered one of the largest enterprises in the world. Unlike other previously man—made islands built of metal and concrete, the Palm Islands of Dubai are built exclusively from natural materials - stone and sand at the request of Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Although the Palm Islands are artificial islands, the prince wanted them to look natural so that they would be in harmony with the environment. In fact, he is asking to build a massive structure without concrete and steel to hold it in place. It is this demanding feature that makes the construction of these islands the biggest challenge. The plans for this megastructure project could not have been realized without the cooperation between construction contractors and engineering scientists.
The Palm Islands consist of three islands: Palm Jumeirah, Palm Jebel Ali and Palm Deira, the latter of which is under development. The Palm Jumeirah occupies 600 hectares of land, and the Jebel Ali Palm adds 120 kilometers of coastline to Dubai. The area of Palm Jumeirah is about four by five kilometers. The Jebel Ali Palm Tree covers 6 by 7 kilometers. Palm Deira, with an area of 80 square kilometers, will become the largest island of all and is equal in area to Paris and London.
All three islands are shaped like a date palm with a ridge, branches and a long trunk, a crescent-shaped breakwater, an underwater car tunnel and a monorail.
