Features of the geography of Dubai
Dubai is located on the shores of the Persian Gulf, northeast of the United Arab Emirates. Dubai is the second largest emirate with an urban area of 3,885 square kilometers and a city of approximately 35 square kilometers in size. Rains in Dubai are infrequent and last no more than a few days. It rains mostly in winter, with short showers and occasional thunderstorms. On average, Dubai gets only five days of precipitation per year.

As of September 2019, Dubai has a population of 3.33 million, with three quarters of the population being men. The city of Dubai is a multicultural society; only 5% of the local residents of the Emirates, the rest are expatriates from all over the world. The foreign population consists mainly of Asians, especially Indians and representatives of other nationalities from various neighboring Arab countries. There are also significant numbers of Iranians who arrived in droves after the 1979 Islamic Revolution, when wealthier and more educated Iranians settled in Dubai.
